    Description

The Halifax Hoodie is a casual outer layer with 5 different views.  There are two main body options – a shaped bodice or a high-low bodice with twisted side seams.  Additional features include a hood, kangaroo pocket, full zipper, front notch, and funnel neck.  This wardrobe staple is perfect for cool weather layering.  With all the different views and options, the modern sewist can use the Halifax Hoodie pattern in innumerable ways.  Suggested fabrics include sweatshirt fleece, french terry, cotton interlock, and other heavier weight knits.

    The .pdf file includes:

    – A .pdf pattern in sizes XS – 2XL
    – Instructions for printing only the size you need
    – Diagrams for taping the pattern together
    – Digitally illustrated directions for every sewing step
    – A print shop copy so you can print the entire pattern on one sheet of 36″ wide paper or two sheets of A0 paper.

When you check out, the .pdf file will automatically be sent to the email address you enter when you check out.  You can always access the pattern in your account as well.
You will not receive any hard copy, only the digital file.  You can download, print, and start sewing immediately!

This download includes the original pattern with A0 and copy shop sizes included, and has been updated to also include a separate copy of the A0 and copy shop sizes for easy online printing.  A0 is a standard paper size and must be printed as such.  The copy shop files are 36″ wide by the length of the pattern and can be printed on wide format printers with continuous rolls of paper.

Purchase includes the right to sell garments made with this pattern.  It is illegal to share, distribute, or resell this pattern or it’s copyrighted illustrated directions, or use any pictures without permission.

I have done View C and View B and love them both! They are a great fit on the first try and I will be making plenty more! My favourite feature is the professional finishing on the interior of the zipper and the neckline.

I made view E (minus drawstring) with a heavy sweatshirt fleece (280gsm). I didn’t have quite enough fabric to make the funnel neck from one piece of fabric, so I pieced it (contrast lining in one piece, main color exterior in 2 pieces). The funnel neck can stand up on its own! Looking through instagram photos again, I notice that most people with the funnel neck did choose a much lighter weight fabric than I did, so that was partly my bad in fabric, choice, but it does say “heavier weight fabrics” in the recommendations. Also, the cuffs were too wide, and doubled with the thick fleece, they don’t stay at my wrist, so the sleeve appears too long (I think if the cuffs were snug, the sleeve length would be fine for me). I’d love it if a caution against using too-thick fabric for the funnel neck and cuffs could be added to the pattern, and what kinds of substitutions might work well (I got some sweatshirt ribbing for the cuffs on my next attempt). I’ll be trying a couple of the other views despite the issues I had, and taking into account what I learned, because overall I don’t think it’s a bad pattern, but a mismatch between the particular view I chose and the fabric I chose. Hi! Yes, fabric definitely makes a big difference in the way any garment will fit, but especially knits. It depends on the look you’re going for. I know a lot of people use a heavier knit with a stiffer hand purposefully because they like having the body in the funnel neck to make it “stand up”. But for a drapey one, try a french terry (cotton or rayon blend) or a sweater knit!

Love this pattern, the instructions are very well written and at 5ft 9″ I find it fits me really well I just added a bit of length in the body and left the sleeves as is. I think this will be my “go to” pattern for winter snugness.

Nothing scarier than hearing the serger running in Nothing scarier than hearing the serger running in your sewing room when you're not in your sewing room 😱. But this girl decided to get up and make herself a Nikko Top and I'm so proud 🙌. I haven't really taught my kids to sew, but I'm happy they're getting into it on their own anyway. I'll be here to nurture their interest and attach arm bindings when they ask though! How are you approaching this skill with the next generation?⁣

A few simple changes to the style lines yields a shorter banded puff sleeve with volume at the hem. I am so in love with this top - using a sweater knit makes it so comfy but also dresses it up just enough for me 🖤. Hope you enjoy! I finally used this gorgeously thick and soft cott I finally used this gorgeously thick and soft cotton sweatshirting from @dashuepfendekomma to make the hoodie of my dreams 🙌. I've been sitting on this fabric and matching ribbing since last winter trying to decide on the perfect pattern. In the end I (predictably) just ended up modifying a few style lines to get exactly what I wanted. I'm sharing my tutorial for a dropped sleeve Brunswick with a bit of volume at the wrist on the blog today!⁣
