In reply to <a href="https://www.heyjunehandmade.com/product/halifax-hoodie/#comment-275135">equus_peduus</a>.

Hi! Yes, fabric definitely makes a big difference in the way any garment will fit, but especially knits. It depends on the look you're going for. I know a lot of people use a heavier knit with a stiffer hand purposefully because they like having the body in the funnel neck to make it "stand up". But for a drapey one, try a french terry (cotton or rayon blend) or a sweater knit!

I made view E (minus drawstring) with a heavy sweatshirt fleece (280gsm). I didn't have quite enough fabric to make the funnel neck from one piece of fabric, so I pieced it (contrast lining in one piece, main color exterior in 2 pieces). The funnel neck can stand up on its own! Looking through instagram photos again, I notice that most people with the funnel neck did choose a much lighter weight fabric than I did, so that was partly my bad in fabric, choice, but it does say "heavier weight fabrics" in the recommendations. Also, the cuffs were too wide, and doubled with the thick fleece, they don't stay at my wrist, so the sleeve appears too long (I think if the cuffs were snug, the sleeve length would be fine for me). I'd love it if a caution against using too-thick fabric for the funnel neck and cuffs could be added to the pattern, and what kinds of substitutions might work well (I got some sweatshirt ribbing for the cuffs on my next attempt). I'll be trying a couple of the other views despite the issues I had, and taking into account what I learned, because overall I don't think it's a bad pattern, but a mismatch between the particular view I chose and the fabric I chose.
I have done View C and View B and love them both! They are a great fit on the first try and I will be making plenty more! My favourite feature is the professional finishing on the interior of the zipper and the neckline.
