Hi! My name is Adrianna and I am the owner and designer here at Hey June. I have three young daughters who were the inspiration for me to start sewing, co-write a blog, and eventually venture into selling my own patterns. I enjoy creating for them and knowing that they're wearing clothing made with consideration and love.
I started this business because so often I hear about people who want to start sewing, but have had a bad experience, or think it is too complicated. Sewing can be tricky, but it doesn't have to be hard, and it can be very rewarding. I wanted to create patterns that were fun to construct and personalize, and styles that were more on trend with what you see in ready-to-wear clothing. Why "hey june"? My youngest, who was supposed to be a boy named Jude, turned out instead to be a girl named Juniper. We say "Hey June" a lot in this house. If you're wondering about the pattern names, they are all places I've visited. We've been very fortunate to travel around while living overseas, so there are many places around the world that are special to me. Despite the more exotic places we've been, my first pattern, The Greenpoint Cardigan, was named after a neighborhood in good old Brooklyn, USA, where a dear friend lives. My website will be evolving and growing as I become more adept at this shop-owner thing and develop more patterns, so please visit often! The Full Disclosure: Where is your money going, and why? I thought it fair to let you know that 25% from every pattern sold will be donated to a charity of my choice. Right now, I'm giving the money to a place called Christian Care Foundation, which is a local organization that provides care for children with special needs and support for their families. I'm not doing this because I'm a good person, or even because of their great need, but for the glory of God. I hope that any good thing I do or any small talent I have will point back to Him. He's the reason I can accomplish anything, or make any kind of difference in this world. My donations may seem like a feeble amount, but God is able to accomplish much with our little. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations.
